Following the loss of his teenage son on Monday, May 2, ODM leader Raila Odinga sent a message of condolence and solidarity to Nominated MP David Sankok and his family.
Memusi Sankok, 15, allegedly shot himself in the chin at their residence in Ewaso Nyiro, Narok County, killing himself on the spot.
When the incident occurred, the firstborn in a family of five, the victim was apparently alone in the house.
Raila prayed for the strength of Sankok’s entire family through his social media accounts at this time.
“Hon. David Sankok, it is tough to lose a kid, and it is even more sad to have to bury one; we are here to support you at this trying time. Please accept Mama Ida’s and my condolences. May God offer you and your family strength. “We’re praying for you,” read the tweet.
Narok County Criminal Investigations Officer Mwenda Ethaiba confirmed reports of the MP’s adolescent son’s death yesterday.
According to Ethaiba, the Form Three student accessed Sankok’s shotgun from a safe in their home and shot himself after his father questioned him about why he had not gone to school despite his father giving him money for shopping.
Following the questioning, the MP is said to have left the house to perform some errands in his Osim Country Lodge, which is located close to his home.
At this point, the dead is claimed to have gotten his hands on the gun and shot himself.
