Raila sneaks back into the country from Dubai amid confusion

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is back into the country.

The AU special envoy for infrastructure sneaked back into the country on Sunday, 12 Jul 2020 after three weeks in Dubai where he underwent a minor hip surgery.

An insider who spoke to The Standard confirmed his return stating that the ODM leader opted for a quiet return to avoid drama.

“The PM did not want his return to cause drama hence the timing and low-key events at the airport. He is fine and resting at home,” said the source.

The publication reported that the flight left Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai at 5 pm and landed at JKIA at about 9.30 pm and docked at the Presidential Pavilion.

Odinga jetted back aboard a luxurious Constellation Aviation Airline Airbus A318-112 (CJ) Elite A6-CAS, MS4211 and was received at the Presidential Pavilion at JKIA. 

The flight had 19 occupants, including Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and Junet Mohamed.

Governor Joho and his close friend Junet Mohamed left the country last Thursday aboard the lavish dropped lavish Airbus A318 private jet to meet Raila who was recuperating in Dubai.

In an update on his health, the two stated that the ODM party leader was in good health.

They also told the public that Odinga would return into the country on Wednesday before reports emerged that Raila actually arrived on Sunday.
