ODM leader Raila Odinga landed in Gatanga constituency, Murang’a County, this morning ahead of a concert organised by Mt Kenya musicians.
The helicopter carrying the former Prime Minister, his wife Mama Odinga and daughter Winnie touched down at the vast residence of media mogul SK Macharia in Ndakaini area.

A section of Mt Kenya musicians arranged the show to thank the Orange party for ensuring artistes are exempted from 25 per cent excise duty that the Treasury had proposed in this year’s Finance Bill.
Various speakers at the ceremony have thanked Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga, who is the chair of the National Assembly Finance Committee, for being in the front line to oppose the tax.
Controversial gospel singer Ben Githae urged the former Prime Minister to use his current cordial relationship with the government to push for artistes’s welfare.
For his part, Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria credited Raila and ODM for the gesture and urged county governments to make come up with favourable laws to cushion the entertainment industry.
Some of the leaders present at the ceremony include governors Wa Iria, James Nyoro (Kiambu), Alfred Mutua (Machakos) James Ongwae (Kisii) Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega), Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Wanjiru Chege, Gatanga MP Ngugi Nduati and his Kieni counterpart Kanini Kega.
More Than Meets The Eye
Although the meeting has only been christened as a thanksgiving event, political observers see it as Raila’s first step to endear himself in the Mountain as 2022 presidential contest beckons.
In the last three general elections, the region has overwhelmingly voted against Raila’s candidature.
