The Registrar of Political Parties has officially dissolved the National Super Alliance (Nasa).
The dissolution comes weeks after Wiper, ANC, Ford-Kenya, and Chama Cha Mashinani announced their withdrawal from the coalition.
In a letter dated 26th August, Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu noted that the resolutions of parties were executed as per set requirements.
“Pursuant to Regulation 22(1) of Political Parties (Registration) Regulations, 2019, and Article 15 (1) of the National Super Alliance (Nasa) coalition agreement, this office received submissions from ANC, Chama Cha Mashinani, Ford-Kenya Party, and Wiper,” Nderitu said.
“Article 15(1) of the coalition agreement stipulates that it shall stand dissolved where any three of the coalition parties decide to leave the coalition.”
In line with Regulation 22 (2) of the political parties (registration) regulations 2019, Nderitu said that her office shall publish the dissolution in two local dailies.
Nasa was formed in January 2017 comprising Raila Odinga’s (ODM), Kalonzo Musyoka’s (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi’s (ANC), Moses Wetang’ula’s Ford-Kenya, and Isaac Ruto’s Chama Cha Mashinani party.
