The Registrar of Political Parties, Ms. Ann Nderitu says in a letter to ANC party that the request for the expulsion was turned down due to procedural gaps.
The Registrar said the disciplinary proceedings were not concluded within the stipulated timelines under Article 49 of the ANC Party Constitution and that the National Governing Council did not approve the Disciplinary Committee as reconstituted by the NEC in line with Article 46 (1)(d)(ii) of the ANC Party constitution.
ANC’s Governing Council on June 26, 2020, approved the expulsion of Senator Malala after the disciplinary committee in November last year suspended and summoned him to appear and respond to charges made against him during an Orange Democratic Movement party rally.
