Safaricom PLC on Thursday, July 9, announced a five-hour scheduled maintenance that is set to affect M-Pesa services across the country.
In a statement, the telco revealed that the maintenance would start a minute before the end of Thursday running through to Friday at 5 a.m.
“In this regard, our M-Pesa services shall be undergoing planned maintenance tonight Thursday, July 9, 2020, starting from 2359 hrs to 0500 hrs on Friday, July 10,” a statement from Safaricom reads in part.
During the maintenance, all M-Pesa services including airtime purchase shall be temporarily unavailable.

The timing of the maintenance activity has been planned to result in the least of inconvenience to Safaricom customers.
Safaricom has had a number of scheduled maintenance on its systems over the past month in a bid to improve its mobile money services to its customers.
The latest was scheduled maintenance was announced on Thursday, July 2 that was slated for Friday from midnight to 5 a.m.
Prior to that, there was another maintenance was announced on Sunday, June 28 with the same timing of 12 o’clock to Monday, June 29 at 5 am to reduce customer inconvenience.
The communications company has also made a number of improvements on M-Pesa including the launching of the Lipa Na M-Pesa Business app that empowers business owners to access real-time statements, export statements, and track their business performance on the go.
Safaricom customers can process their mobile money transactions before the five-hour planned maintenance or wait till Thursday after 5 am to use M-Pesa.
Safaricom M-Pesa customers can continue enjoying free transactions under Ksh 1,000 after the Central Bank of Kenya on Wednesday, June 24 announced the extension of a set of measures that were announced in March 2020.
