Safina party leader Wanjigi to unveil running mate Tuesday

Presidential hopeful Jimi Wanjigi is set to unveil his running mate a day after the expiry of IEBC deadline for presidential aspirants to name their deputies.

Through his official Twitter handle, Wanjigi said he will announce the party’s presidential ticket for the August 2022 contest on Tuesday.

“We are confident that we will form the next government; one anchored on liberating all Kenyans,” said Wanjigi.

So far, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party, Kenya Kwanza Alliance and Wiper party flag bearers have picked their running mates and submitted documents for presidential and deputy presidential candidates to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission as the deadline lapsed on Monday.

Deputy President William Ruto’s led Kenya Kwanza Alliance says it will fill the Mathira parliamentary seat democratically after Rigathi Gachagua was nominated as its running mate.

The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party said the party was stronger than ever despite the exit of wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

Other candidates exuded confidence in the electoral process.

Several independent candidates were also cleared earlier in the day.
