The appointment of Christine Ireri as Nairobi county attorney has left tongues wagging.
It is said a greenhorn in legal field with no experience, her appointment was purely after giving in to sexual demands.
Initially the position was held by Lydia Kwamboka whose style of operation was put under scrutiny.
There was hue and cry on the manner in which a law firm, Njenga Maina and Company Advocates was awarded multimillion shillings despite having not been prequalified.
Before joining the county government, Kwamboka was in private legal practice with offices at Chaka Place, Hurlingham.
Previously health CEC nominee Stella Bosire rejected Governor Mike Sonko offer under unclear circumstances but word on the street had it that she was protesting against sex and bribe demand by rogue individuals who were in the vetting panel.
Some activities in Nairobi county both at executive and assembly have left Kenyans questioning the integrity of their leaders.
Nairobi MCAs have been known to be notoriously attending the assembly drunk and on many occasions have caused drama.
Recently, nominated MCA Mary Arivistsa was suspended after the drunk politician disrupted the assembly’s proceedings by shouting and rolling on the floor.
The MCA said to be pro-speaker Beatrice Elachi showed full disrespect to Chege who was elected by his colleagues as the acting speaker following the ouster of Elachi.
In the past a group of drunken MCAs stormed the county assembly to block ousted speaker Elachi from carrying on with her duties.
Photos later surfaced showing the six at a restaurant enjoying alcohol of different types including White Cap and Jack Daniels hours before storming the office of the speaker.
Among the six was nominated MCA Mary Njambi who was at the forefront during the drama.
The three female representatives under the influence, later on, went and caused a scene at Elachi’s office where they engaged in a shouting contest and reportedly destroyed some properties.
The drama that went on for some time saw the female legislators push, shove and shout in a bid to intimidate Elachi to leave.
