Former radio presenter who is now a politician, Jalang’o, had caused a stir after making an opinion on the closure of the iconic Hilton Hotel.

According to Jalang’o, the shut down of the hotel should be blamed on small and medium businesses that have mushroomed around the Nairobi Central Business District.

“The rapid growth of our CBD in terms of SMEs and other mid-sized businesses is good but bad for establishments like Hilton which thrived on conveniences to a lot of amenities within the CBD and its environs,” said Jalang’o on the small businesses in Nairobi CBD.

He suggested that the mushrooming of the small businesses in the CBD had triggered massive traffic jams which tourists would rather not partake in.

“Many businessmen and women who found this as a plus would rather not wade through traffic to go to Hilton,” said Jalang’o who is contesting for the Lang’ata parliamentary seat on an ODM ticket.
