Stage set for Sagana 3 meeting, President Uhuru expected shortly

The stage is set for the 3rd Sagana meeting where President Uhuru Kenyatta will meet Mt Kenya leaders and invited residents to drum up support for his preferred successor. 

Hundred of thousands of guests turned up in the early hours of Wednesday morning at the Sagana State lodge ready for the meeting that will have a major bearing on the political direction the region will take just five months to the August 9 general election.

Police had a hectic time managing the large crowds as they swiftly moved in to ensure order prevailed by separating invited guests from non-invited ones.

In the end, many were turned away, and they couldn’t hide their frustrations claiming they had been urged by their leaders to turn up for the meeting.

Such is the huge turn up that security officers have mounted several roadblocks to scrutinise those attending.

A majority of the guests were forced to walk for over 4 kilometres following a huge traffic snarl-up on the road heading to the Lodge from Karatina.

President Uhuru is expected any time soon in a meeting that could shape the outcome of Mt Kenya politics in August 2022.

Among those invited are popular Kikuyu benga musicians, grassroot leaders, elected leaders as well as selected area residents.
