Omar Lali boyfriend to the Keroche heiress Tecra Muigai has been set free after spending several days in police custody.
Lali gained his freedom after the murder charges against him were dropped by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Hadji.
Lali appeared at the Garsen law courts to answer to murder charges following the controversial death of Tecra.
The DPP dropped the murder charges and ordered for fresh probe to establish what led to the death of the Keroche Breweries Director of innovation. leading to Tecra’s death.
Lali was arraigned in court on Monday morning to answer to the charges before today’s development.
Controversy surrounded the death of Tecra with multipole accounts emerging.
A brief statement released by the family of the deceased indicated that she had died in an accident without revealing much detail.
A few days later, her younger sister Arnelisa Muigai caused a stir when she dismissed the narrative as police moved in to resolve the mystery of her death.
Some reports indicated that she had fallen and died in a bathroom at a place where they live with Lali the boyfriend on the 3rd May 2020, and was laid to rest two weeks later at a family private ceremony in their Naivasha home.
The family had hired the services of top City lawyer senior counsel James Orengo to represent their interest.
Postmortem done on Tecra showed that she had died from head injuries, but they are yet to establish whether the injuries were of the accidental origin or was pushed to her death.
