It’s been a long day for Azimio la Umoja delegates and supporters as their leaders, President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, made the final attempt to bring Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka on board.

Reports indicate that the President, the former Prime Minister, Kalonzo, and other leaders have been holed up in a meeting at State House for the better part of the day.

On the other hand, Azimio delegates have been waiting at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) while supporters are gathered at the Jacaranda grounds in Nairobi.

However, supporters are already becoming impatient as they wait.

As of 1:30 pm, the top Azimio leaders had not arrived at KICC.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that Kalonzo has hijacked the meeting with demands.

He is said to be asking for the running mate post as the prerequisite for joining Azimio from the One Kenya Alliance.

Azimio bloggers have taken to social media platforms to register their disappointments.

Lord Abraham Mutai wrote on Twitter: “I hear Kalonzo is demanding for today’s event to be postponed to give him room to negotiate! We have been waiting here at KICC since 8 am. Kalonzo and months and years to negotiate with Azimio la Umoja. We won’t take this lightly. This is totally unacceptable.”

Blogger Robert Alai added: “Kalonzo has held Azimio. Still demanding something. He is holding the event hostage to spoil the day. Now we must move on without Kalonzo.”

City lawyer Donald B Kipkorir, a staunch supporter of Raila, also said he was not happy at all.

“Why is a stranger allowed to mess Azimio’s day?” he posed.

Update: Uhuru, Raila, and Kalonzo have arrived at the KICC. Details loading in our subsequent stories here on Litkenya.com.
