The maximum number of Sim Cards you are allowed to own as a Kenyan – Kenya Satellite News Network

In accordance with current government legislation aimed at reducing SIM card fraud and abuse, Kenyans are now limited to have a total of ten SIM cards.

Adult Kenyans will be asked to produce identification documents such ID cards, birth certificates, and passports when acquiring new SIM cards, according to the Ministry of ICT’s new rules.

When parents or guardians purchase sim cards on behalf of children, they will be expected to give both their own and the child’s identification documents.

When a child reaches the legal age of 18, he or she will be required to update their registration information within three months.

If a subscriber provides false details during the registration procedure, telecommunication providers have been given the mandate to deactivate their sim cards.

Simultaneously, before deleting or suspending non-compliant subscribers’ accounts, telcos will be obligated to notify them.

Kenyans have until October 15, 2022 to have their telecoms firms update their information.
