Don’t Forget The Race is Between Me And Raila, Ruto Tells Mt Kenya 

Deputy President William Ruto has reminded the Mt Kenya region that the 2022 State House contest is between him and ODM leader Raila Odinga and not Martha Karua.

Speaking in Kirinyaga on Sunday, the DP said the appointment of Karua as Raila’s running mate was meant to confuse the Mountain into voting for the former Prime Minister.

He described Raila as a leader with zero progressive ideas, saying that he has proven time and again that he thrives in chaos, thus electing him would be a big gamble.

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru claimed that Karua, who hails from the county, has very little influence in his village leave alone the entire Mt Kenya area.

EACC Goes Thieving Governor 

Some six sitting and former governors are walking a tight rope after the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) move to recover assets valued at billions of shillings they illegally acquired.

According to EACC officers, Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria, his Migori colleague Okoth Obado, and Samburu’s Moses Lenolkulal and Ali Korane of Garissa amassed wealth through corruption. The others are former governors Evans Kidero (Nairobi) and Ferdinand Waititu (Kiambu).

The anti-graft watchdog’s lawyers have moved to court seeking orders to recover properties that the aforementioned individuals could not explain why they acquired them.

Last week, the agency started the process of recovering Ksh2 billion from Waititu. He accumulated wealth between 2015 and 2020.

Ruto: I Will Do Away With CBC

Deputy President William Ruto and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi have vowed to abolish the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) if Kenya Kwanza Alliance succeeds the Jubilee government in August.

According to the Kenya Kwanza duo, the new education system was rushed without engaging all the stakeholders.

They said CBC was frustrating teachers, parents, and learners.

The government has been constructing classrooms to be occupied by pupils who will transition from Grade Six to Junior Secondary in the coming education year.

Kipruto Arap Kirwa Ditches UDA.

UDA Vice-chair Kipruto Arap Kirwa switched camps yesterday from Deputy President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza to the Azimio la Umoja of Raila Odinga.

Speaking after he was received by Raila at Mayuba Stadium in Bungoma, the former Agriculture Minister said UDA was a dictatorial party.

He revealed that he quit after Ruto declared Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua as his running mate. Kirwa confirmed what has been in media reports that the Kenya Kwanza leader preferred Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki to Gachagua.

Mucheru: Raila Will Win in Round One 

ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru has rattled the Kenya Kwanza Alliance yet again after affirming that Azimio la Umoja flag bearer Raila Odinga will beat the Deputy President William Ruto hand down in the coming presidential election.

Mucheru said the former Prime Minister will defeat the DP in the first round.

However, he insisted that there would be no rigging, but he will ensure every of Raila’s votes count.

The DP and his allies have been asking Mucheru to resign, claiming that he has hatched an elaborate plot to manipulate the presidential election using technology.

Rabai MP Dies in Road Crash 

Rabai MP William Komote died last evening after his car was involved in a road accident along the Kilifi-Mombasa highway.

The police said the lawmaker succumbed to his injuries shortly after the accident.

The demise of the ODM MP came hours after he presented his nomination papers to the electoral commission and was cleared to defend his seat.

State House Hopeful Causes Scene After Being Disqualified

Murang’a Governor and presidential aspirant Mwangi wa Iria confronted officers from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) after being disqualified from running.

In a clip that went viral last evening, the county boss said the agency was no longer independent. He wondered why his candidature was rejected after meeting all requirements.

“If I will not be cleared to run, there will be no election in this country. Why are you treating me like a second-class citizen? Is it because I’m from the Mt Kenya region? Did I present everything you asked for?” he posed.

Kinoti, Haji Fights to Affect Court Proceedings 

A crisis is expected in the courts starting this morning as a result of the supremacy battles pitting the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss against the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji.

At the weekend, Kinoti directed the police, not to record statements or take fingerprints from suspects after Haji formulated new guidelines that only allow State counsels and prosecutors to draft charge sheets and present suspected lawbreakers.

The DCI boss said it was unreasonable to usurp the powers of the police and expect them to help the office of the DPP prosecute suspects.

Kinoti is now asking Chief Justice Martha Koome and Attorney General Paul Kihara Kariuki to intervene.

Kimani Ngunjiri in Trouble For Attacking Opponent

Kenyans have called for the arrest of Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri after he was captured on camera assaulting a female aspirant, Irene Njoki.

In the video trending on social media, the lawmaker and his mobilisers attacked the contender while she was campaigning in one of the locations in the constituency.

“You are not above the law. The people of Bahati have known your character and it will not work this time around. I will follow it to wherever it goes,” Njoki said.

Zoning in Nairobi For Azimio 

The Azimio la Umoja has opted to ring-fence Nairobi County for its three big parties – ODM, Jubilee, and Wiper.

In the 17 constituencies, ODM will sponsor eight candidates just like Jubilee while Wiper only gets one.

The same case applies to gubernatorial, senatorial, and Woman Rep positions. Jubilee produced the gubernatorial contender while Wiper settled for the running mate slot. ODM will front senatorial and Woman Rep contestants.

The top leadership of the coalition said the move will ensure Azimio bags most seats in the city.
