The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has invited applicants from aspirants for three upcoming Member of County Assembly (MCA) by-elections.
The by-elections for MCA Eldas in Wajir County, MCA Kiagu in Meru County, and MCA Nguu/Masumbain in Makueni County will be held on 14th October.
In a notice issued on Thursday, 29th July, UDA Secretary-General Veronica Maina announced that the deadline for the applications would be 4th August.
“UDA invites all interested and qualified aspirants to submit their applications for the by-elections on or before Wednesday, 4th August 2021 at noon to the party headquarters at Hustlers’ Centre, Makindi Road – Nairobi,” said Maina.
She also said that applications could also be made online via the UDA website www.uda.ke
Candidates applying for the MCA seats are required to pay Ksh30,000, and those to represent youth, women and people with disabilities, Ksh20,000.
The Eldas seat fell vacant following the death of MCA Ibrahim Abass on 14th July.
The Kiagu Ward seat fell vacant after the death of Eunice Karegi. She succumbed to cancer on 27th May, while the Nguu Masumba Ward seat became vacant following the death of Harrison Ngui. He perished in a horrific road accident on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway on 15th June.
The invitations come weeks after UDA won the Kiambaa parliamentary by-election.
UDA candidate John Njuguna Wanjiku garnered 21,773 votes, defeating Jubilee Party flag bearer Kariri Njama, who managed 21,263 votes.
