The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has nullified nominations for Nandi Hills Constituency Member of Parliament Alfred Keter.
The party’s Electoral and Nomination Dispute Resolution Committee declared Keter’s victory null and void.
The committee claims elections officials raised concerns over the victory.
The lawmaker floored seven rivals to clinch the seat in a tied contest. He garnered 10,273 votes ahead of his rival Kitur Benard Kibor who got 7,468 votes.
Meanwhile, Starehe Member of Parliament Charles Njagua, alias Jaguar, now says he will defend his seat at the August polls as an independent candidate.
This comes after his rival, East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Simon Mbugua, was handed the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket for the Parliamentary seat following the party’s heavily contested nominations.
Taking to his social media platforms, Jaguar underscored that despite being snubbed for the UDA ticket, he had held consultative talks with his constituents who urged him to defend his seat on whichever platform.
