The United Democratic Alliance’s (UDA) National Delegates Convention (NDC) is slated to take place in Nairobi’s Kasarani Gymnasium.

Over 5000 delegates have been invited to support Deputy President William Ruto in his constitutionally mandated State House candidacy against Azimio la Umoja and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The occasion, which is anticipated to be attended by ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi, will mark the formal end of Ruto’s Jubilee Party leadership, where he served as deputy party leader.

Yesterday, Tharaka Nithi senator Kithure Kindiki mentioned that Narc Kenya party head Martha Karua could attend the event; assertions that the former Gichugu MP has since denied.

All planning for the large event, which will lay the stage for a fierce confrontation between Ruto and Odinga, had been completed by last evening at the historic location.

UDA is anticipated to make important decisions that will shape the party’s political destiny, in addition to announcing Ruto as its presidential candidate.

The DP will also be confirmed as the candidate to fly the Kenya Kwanza flag, according to Kindiki.

“We will endorse the DP to fly the flag of UDA and that of Kenya Kwanza in the upcoming polls,” he said.

The primary concern is whether ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi will drop out of the race and back Ruto, despite his allies’ demands that he be named the alliance’s presidential candidate’s running mate.
