Uganda’s Rocket Health, a telemedicine and last-mile healthcare startup, has raised $5 million in its Series A round of funding, bringing its total funding to $6.2 million.

Investors who took part in the funding include Creadev, Grenfell Holdings, and LoftyInc Capital Management.

The startup says it will use the funding to accelerate its technology roadmap and geographical expansion to the different regions of Uganda and into Kenya. It will explore expansion prospects in West Africa in the long run.

Founded in 2012, Rocket Health offers an end-to-end healthcare experience to over 25,000 individual patients. The startup’s solution leverages technology to provide four integrated services – 24/7 teleconsultations, medicine delivery, home sample collection for laboratory diagnostic testing and physical specialist clinic consultations.

They also feature a USSD service for folks who don’t have access to the internet.
