The University of Nairobi has appointed two acting deputy vice-chancellors.
UoN Vice-Chancellor Stephen Kiama named Prof Enos Njeru as the acting deputy vice-chancellor human resources and administration for a period of six months.
Until his appointment, Prof Njeru was the principal of College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Prof Kiama also named Prof Margaret Hutchison as the acting deputy vice-chancellor finance planning and development.
Prof Mohamud Jama has taken over from Prof Njeru and is now the acting principal at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Before his appointment, Prof Jama was the deputy principal at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Former director of research and enterprises Prof Atiya Warris has been named acting deputy principal at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
“The vice-chancellor made the appointments pursuant to the provisions of the University of Nairobi statute,” the statement by Prof Kiama read.
Prof Kiama congratulated and wished the new team success in their new roles.
The new appointments follows the retirement of Prof Isaac Meroka Mbeche in May who retired as the deputy vice-chancellor for finance, planning and development.
Prof Mbeche was last year appointed to act as VC after the university council rejected Prof Peter Mbithi’s bid to serve for a second term.
He was in charge of the university during the transition when the council, through the Public Service Commission, conducted the process of appointing a new vice-chancellor.
