A student from the University of Nairobi (UoN) on Wednesday filed a petition at the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) seeking to stop results of three High Court judges being interviewed for the Appellate Court.

Zack Kinuthia claims High Court judges Mumbi Ngugi, Francis Tuiyott and Hellen Omondi failed to follow the law when they ruled in favor of Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu.

According to the Law student, the three judges neglected to exercise their judicial functions with due diligence, resulting in gross misconduct.

“In the said judgement, despite establishing that the DPP acted within the law, the judges went on a fishing expedition with the exclusive intention of looking for ways to ensure Mwilu could not stand trial,” he said.
