While the high-end market is where all the bells and whistles that excite us are found, the entry-level market houses the biggest share of the mobile market, especially in Kenya and other developing markets.

Samsung, as well as other manufacturers, know this, and that is why most of them target this market with budget offerings that offer just enough performance for today’s needs.

The A and M series from Samsung are targeted at this market, and popular leaker @OnLeaks “in association with Giznet has provided us with a look into the yet to be released Galaxy A04s, which is a successor to the budget offering Galaxy A03s that was released last year.

The A0 series is at the lowest end of the entry-level market, therefore the specs and hardware will not win any awards any time soon, but that does not prevent the series from offering decent performance, especially for a price around the Ksh 10,000 mark.

From the leaked renders, the Galaxy A04s is not expected to massively change its design scheme compared to its predecessor, but rather take a more evolving approach to a more sleek and modern design.

The renders show a flat display topping out at around 6.5 inches with a V-shaped notch at the top. The phone has thin bezels around it, except for the lower part normally called the chin, which is particularly thicker. @OnLeaks puts the device’s dimensions at 164.5 x 76.5 x 9.18 mm, which should form the basis of a pleasant experience when using the Galaxy A04s on one hand.

For a budget device, display quality is often not a priority, and a 720p (HD+) display should be expected, just as was the case in the Galaxy A03s. The leak does not specify which processor Samsung will go for, but chances as they will retain the Unisoc chipset they used on the Galaxy A03s last year.

Battery capacity is also another area there should be no major change, with the 5,000 mAh battery proving sufficient for last year’s model. The charging speed should also remain the same at 15 W despite other manufacturers improving in this aspect.

One of the bigger and more noticeable changes to separate the Galaxy A04s and A03s will be in the camera set up. While the new model will also feature a triple camera set up, the renders show that it has no camera bump, unlike the A03s. The A04s rear camera set up mirrors that of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, with the lenses instead sticking out of the back.

Other features that can be seen from the renders include a 3.5 mm headphone jack at the bottom, a USB type C port for charging, and speaker grilles.

The left side of the phone is where the SIM+microSD slot is housed. On the right side, we have the volume rockers as well as the power key just under them. The power key will also integrate a fingerprint scanner for biometrics.

@OnLeaks notes that the Galaxy A04s is still in active development and might not make it to our shelves until much later in the year.
