Union of Kenya Civil servants want Utalii College Principal Hashim Mohamed sacked for interdicting staff, corruption.
Trouble is brewing at the Kenya Utalii College after several staff were interdicted by college principal Hashim Mohamed.
On Friday, several employees were blocked from accessing the institution and given interdiction letters.
The letters wee signed by the CEO.
A letter to one of the employees said that he was being interdicted for gross misconduct and breach of internal college human resource policy.
The letter said the management is carrying out investigations into the alleged allegations and that the employees will be on half salary.
However, the Union has taken up the case and accused Hashim Mohamed of mismanaging the institution and being high handed.
The union in an Internal memo said the college through Hashim has brought about disparities in salaries occasioned by the implementation of new salary structure.
The union wrote on 9th September calling for a meeting with the management to address the designations of staff and its effects on the salary scale levels and positions.

“The criteria and considerations used in carrying out the conversion and the procedure and process culminating to the implementation of the salary structure,” the union said in its letter.
On 23rd September, the Union through its Secretary General Tom Odege wrote to the College Chairman Mwambu Muliro asking him to intervene in the matter.
In the letter, the Union said, “In the same vein, we take great exception of the conduct of the Human Resource and Administration Manager Judith Oketch in the manner in which she handles human resource issues, in particular the show cause letter to our branch secretary who breached no rule whatsoever in the process of presenting concerns of members of staff,” Odege said in the letter.
On 29th September 2021, Hashim Mohamed wrote to the union saying that the chairman Mwambu Muliro had asked him to urgently contact the union.
“As directed, we shall deal with the union issues swiftly and with due care. In so doing, it is important to note that all union matters will be handled in line with the guidelines stipulated in the resolution agreement,” Hashim told Odege.
However, insiders said the college is harassing staff because they raised issues with the New Grading structure and redesignations.
They also added that the interdictions are because some employees blew the whistle on information concerning an investigation that was done by the council, the Parliamentary investigation, and the taskforce investigation by the ministry of tourism which revealed massive looting of cash at the institution.
