Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria has said there is nothing which will block him from seeking presidential seat come August 9, general elections.

Wa Iria, who commenced his campaigns on Monday, dismissed those saying the Kikuyu community should not produce a presidential candidate after the community produced three presidents.

He said as a Kenyan, he has the right to seek any elective position and Kenyans are then one who decides through voting but not a few individuals.

The Governor said from next week he will move to other counties to seek political support, downplaying those saying the coming elections will be between two horses.

The Governor during his campaign trail in Gatanga sub-county observed that like the way other presidential candidates are backed by their communities, he will appeal to people from Mount Kenya to support his bid.

Wa Iria’s announcement will see the region produce two presidential candidates including Jimmy Wanjigi who is vying for the Safina Party.
