Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua’s private life has been under public scrutiny since Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga nominated her to be his running mate.
She has been accused of dumping her former husband only identified as Njoka. She has been under pressure to explain why they divorced.
Speaking to Inooro TV on Sunday, the former Justice Minister hit out at Deputy President William Ruto’s wing for engaging in petty politics.
She said leaders seeking elective positions should sell their agenda rather than discussing individuals.
“We want issue-based politics. Stop asking irrelevant questions,” she said.
Before partying ways, Karua and Njoka had two children – George Maringa and Dr Wanjiru.
Maringa is a reporter and news anchor at Standard Group’s Ktn News. He joined the station in 2017 as an intern and has been moving up the ladder.
When his mother was picked as Raila’s running mate, he penned down on his Twitter handle, “when the right is right…”.
On the other hand, Dr Wanjiru is a lecturer and the founder of Akili Dada, an organisation that helps women secure scholarships abroad.
She is also the director of Africa Women in Agricultural Research.
Last week, Karua said she has no apologies to make for being a single mother.
