English Premier League outfit Watford FC has completed the signing of Ivory Coast left-back Hassane Kamara from Ligue 1 side OGC Nice for an undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old signed a three-year deal that will keep him at Vicarage Road until 2025.

“Watford FC is delighted to announce the signing of Ivorian left-sided defender Hassane Kamara on a deal until June 2025,” read a statement from the club.

“The 27-year-old joins from Nice – currently second in France’s Ligue 1 – for whom he has made 11 league appearances this season.”

Kamara started his football career at LB Châteauroux before moving to Stade de Reims in 2015, where he won the French second division.

He moved to Nice last season and has gone on to make over 50 appearances for the club in all competitions, including four in the Europa League.

Kamara made his international debut in a 2-1 victory over Burkina Faso in June 2021.

However, the left-wing was left out of the Elephants squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations which is set to kick-off on Sunday, 9th January in Yaounde, Cameroon.

The Elephants are in Group E alongside Sierra Leone, Algeria, and Equatorial Guinea.

Following his signing, Kamara becomes Watford’s ninth African player in the squad. Others include Nigeria’s Peter Etebo, William Troost-Ekong, Ghana’s Kwadwo Baah, Nigeria’s Emmanuel Dennis, Morocco’s Imran Louza, Adam Masina, Cameroon’s Nicolas Nkoulou, and Senegal’s Ismaila Sarr.
