For many Kenyans, a chance to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta remains a pipe dream therefore when an opportunity presented itself for a 20-year-old Nakuru girl, she could not contain her joy.
The young lady who introduced herself to the head of state as Ann Wanjiru was a beneficiary of the Kazi Mtaani initiative in Elburgon, Nakuru County.

In a video shared by NTV, Wanjiru praised the program, stating that it had helped many young people from the locality who had been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Probably not believing she was talking to the president, the excited girl wished she was speaking with him through a video call and even asked whether she could meet him in person.
“I would like to see you live. There are a lot of things we need to talk about,” to which the head of state said he would think about.
On the Kazi Mtaani initiative, Wanjiru requested that Uhuru extend the job which was supposed to last for 11 more days.
Unfortunately, the president explained the program was designed that way to help as many young people as possible.
“We created the program so you can work and get paid and after 11 days, the opportunity can be given to others and so on so that this money benefits all young people who enrol,” he said.
The lady was keen enough to pass the gratitude of Elburgon residents noting that Uhuru’s administration had helped them a lot.
The president, who was also excited to talk to the girl, promised to visit the place sometime in the future to witness the progress himself.
