The current WhatsApp application in our phones has always been free to use. Ads and premium services are not supported.

But all of that may change soon, as Meta has stated that it is ready to create WhatsApp Premium, a new subscription service. Regular users will not be able to use the app because it will require a monthly cost that has yet to be determined.

According to WABetaInfo, it is intended for businesses who want to engage with their clients via WhatsApp. Organizations will be able to create unique click-to-chat links that they can share with customers and put on their websites.

Users will be able to link and name up to ten devices on the same account using this capability. The functionality will be pushed out globally in the next weeks, but enterprises will be eligible to use WhatsApp Business without paying if they are willing to forego some additional features.

The option to send money via WhatsApp is another function that is already available in some countries. It is anticipated that this will be implemented globally at some time.

Meta has made it obvious that it intends to generate more money off the platform, which is why it is adding new features to make it more appealing.
