West Mugirango Member of Parliament Vincent Kemosi claims his support for Deputy President William Ruto motivated police and administrators to disrupt his Friday’s event meant to launch constituency bursary disbursement programme.

Addressing journalists from his residence, Kemosi termed the cancellation of the event scheduled to take place at Rangenyo Primary school playground in Nyamaiya Ward, West Mugirango constituency as witch hunt due to his stand on supporting DP Ruto’s presidential ambition in 2022.

He said that he was barred from meeting his people even after meeting the laid down protocols while his counterparts in the same county were allowed to hold public gatherings.

“Friday’s turn of events had nothing to do with coronavirus pandemic prevention but pure witch-hunt and everyone can clearly see that I am being sabotaged because of my strong support of DP’s presidential ambitions. I have seen other MPs hold public gatherings across Nyamira but it is viewed as a crime if I hold one in a bid to help our children with school fees,” noted Kemosi.

“The DCC told me that I should be granted permission from the Interior Cabinet Secretary, Dr Fred Matiang’i before planning to hold any public event, an order which I see implemented with a lot of partiality,” MP Kemosi observed.

According to Nyamira South Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Julius Otieno, all political gatherings have been stopped at the moment in an effort to control spread of Covid-19 and administrators cannot allow the order to be defied under their watch and expect the legislature to lead by example rather than politicking the simple directive.

Kemosi later launched the Sh34 million National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) bursaries at West Mugirango CDF hall.

Over 6,000 students in both secondary schools and higher institutions are set to benefit from the fund.
