Kericho county governor Paul Chepkwony together with county MPs including all MCAs held over a six hour meeting with William Ruto in his Karen residence on Wednesday May 15.
Ruto is said to have told those present to market his 2022 presidential bid and consolidate his support in Kipsigis land.

The closed door meeting agenda was not known but it was said to have been attended by cabinet secretary for Energy Charles Keter and Senator Aaron Cheruiyot.
A source hinted that the meeting was to organise how to consolidate 2022 Ruto campaign in the region and to unite all the leaders in the county.
The secret meeting was not clear who made the appointment to meet the DP that eventually materialised and lasted several hours.
One of the MCA who attended the meeting disclosed that they discussed development projects among them, roads in the county that are going to be tarmacked.
In the past, the CS and the governor were not close friends since Chepkwony was a close ally of Raila Odinga.
The gubernatorial seat will be a contest between Keter and Senator Cheruiyot who has declared interest in the race in the next elections. Keter is yet to come into the open if he will contest.
The DP meeting that lasted for over six hours is an indication that he is a person determined in making sure that the Kipsigis community votes will be in his ballot.
Bomet and Kericho counties are known for being supporters of Ruto
and the trend is the same even if he will be facing one presidential candidate.
The community believes in the DP too much though nothing in the region to associate him with except political leaders who enjoy extreme access to the DP and as such, they always urged members of the community to pray for him to capture the seat in the next elections.
