A struggle is simmering over the burial site of the late governor Joyce Laboso after it emerged that both Kalenjin and Luo communities have come out to claim her burial rights.

The late governor was married to Dr. Edwin Abonyo who has roots in Kisumu hails from Koru and they were blessed with three sons.

But when she ventured into an active politics, Dr. Laboso was forced to drop her husband’s name and revert back to Laboso because her marital status to a man from Luo community provided ammunition for her detractors to degrade her political journey.

The big question now is where she will be buried given that where she stayed in Sotik until her death was a residential home of her late sister Lorna Laboso.

Joyce Laboso was elected to Parliament to represent the Sotik constituency in a by-election after the death of her sister, Lorna Laboso who died in a plane crash.

The Luo community has insisted of burying the late Laboso while on the other hand the Kalinjin community is lobbying to bury her in what is seen as political game plan.
