ODM Party leader Raila Odinga has taken a break from politics.
Odinga has been holding a series of closed-door meetings throughout the week with his trusted confidants while keeping a low profile and refraining from politics.
The former Prime Minister who recently jetted back into the country from Dubai will refrain from politics for 21 days as advised by his doctors.
This means that the AU envoy will not engage in active politics for 14 days as the country gears up for constitutional changes through the BBI and with Deputy President William Ruto readying his troops for the 2022 battle.
Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya who met the ODM party leader confirmed that Odinga “is having a rest for 21 days as advised by his doctors, and we didn’t discuss politics, even the BBI, as that was not my agenda. I was there just to visit him after his return from medical examination”.
“He dwelt on his surgery so we have to wait for his full recovery to engage him in politics. He has to finish 21 days and nothing will happen until those days are over.” Said Oparanya.
Odinga has also met ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna, Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, Cotu Secretary-General Francis Atwoli, Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala and nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi.
All confirmed that the present focus is Odinga’s health.
“Our concern was about his state and I can tell you he is doing well. He is up on his feet and strong,” added another sources.
