President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto are currently engage in a serious brawl over hundreds of millions of shillings in the ruling party’s financial accounts. Using his right man and the party’s Deputy Secretary General Caleb Kositany, DP William Ruto now is demanding for the auditing of the party’s financial records.
In a letter dated 13th July 2020, DG Kositany makes demands to be furnished by an updated record of the party’s financial accounts from 2016 to date.
”This demand is made persuant to Article 35 (1) of the Constitution of Kenya and Part III Section 23-32 and particular Section 29 and 31 of the Political Parties Act and the Party Constitution,” Kositany’s letter read in part.
In response, Secretary General Raphael Tuju did not mince his words, asking Kositany to proceed and get the documents where they are kept as they are public documents .
Tuju also criticized the lawmaker stating that he is still enjoying the party’s privileges despite him taking the party to court before relinquishing the charges earlier.
“Calling yourself the deputy secretary-general ” Tuju stated, adding that they are only waiting for a certificate from the auditor.
“All these exposed is an extreme form of megalomaniacal behavior . Unfortunately in this office, we do not have the capacity or qualifications to deal with such malady . In any case, you should be addressing such issues to the office of Mr. Alfred Kipkorir Mutai who is the treasurer and member of NEC just like you, ” reads part of Tuju’s response to Kositany.
With the ruined relationship between President Kenyatta and his allies, the head of state has firmed up his grip on the ruling party and kicked out all Ruto’s allies from leadership positions within the ruling outfit.
