WOMAN CHARGED WITH ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF FIREARM AFTER THREATENING TO SHOOT TAXI DRIVER.

A 37 year old woman alleged to have threatened a taxi driver has been charged with being in possession of a firearm.

Stella Waithera Kahigi appeared before Milimani chief magistrate charged with possession of a pistol without a firearms certificate.

The woman allegedly committed the offence on April 9, at about 0816hrs at Laxman apartments within Loresho Estate.

She was arrested after Japhet Safari Muthui, a taxi driver filed a report at Spring Valley police station. According to the taxi driver, the woman hailed the ride from a residence in Kangemi to Loresho at around 3am in the morning.

The police report further states that on arrival at the residence, a disagreement arose over payments for the ride and that is when Waithera went inside the house and came out with a pistol threatening to shoot the car driver.

The officers proceeded to Waithera’s residence and arrested her. She was released on a cash bail of Sh200,000.
