Woman left with PTSD after knock on door exposes boyfriend’s eight year affair

A heartbroken woman has revealed the heartbreaking way she found out her partner had been cheating on her.

The woman – who wanted to remain anonymous – first met her boyfriend when she was 25 through mutual friends and they hit it off straight away.

He showered her with love and affection and was nothing like her past boyfriends.

But nine months in, he told her that he had slept with his ex six months prior, and of course she was devastated.

She forgave him because she wanted the relationship to work but she never understood why he told her.

Fast forward eight years and everything changed.

One night, she and her boyfriend were woken up in the middle of the night by a loud knock at the door of the home they shared together.

After they refused to open the door the person stopped knocking and left.

But then her boyfriend got out of bed, told her he knew who it was and that he was going to sort it out – but gave her no further details.

He returned the next morning and told her that the person at the door had been his ex and that she wanted him to buy her out of the property they shared together.

Of course, she knew nothing about any of this.

Instantly she knew he was lying, because none of what he had said added up – why would his ex turn up out of the blue after eight years of being with someone else?

When she pushed him on the subject he told her he was tired and just wanted to go to sleep.

It was only later that evening that he came clean.

She told news.com.au. : “I think it was only because I guessed and I guessed right – that he’d been seeing her the whole time.”

The person on the other side of the door that night was a woman who happened to be his girlfriend, not his ex.

And they had been dating not just for the entirety of their eight year relationship but also for the seven years prior.

After she found out that her entire eight year relationship was a lie, the woman left him and never went back.

But the months that followed were incredibly hard on her.

She ended up meeting his other partner when the three of them ended up getting a “three-way divorce” – although they weren’t married, they had both lived with him.

This was when she learned that their lives were eerily similar.

The woman revealed: “When we talked and realised how similar things were, down to travel and flights and the stuff he’d done with both of us, it still makes me sick to my stomach.”

And she also admitted she ended up with PTSD and major trust issues after leaving him because she had lost eight years to a man who had spent every day lying to her.

She hasn’t had a serious relationship since.
