Noah Kibet, a teen star, wins Kenya’s first medal in the World Indoor Championships.

Kibet, who is 17, came second in the men’s 800 meters final to win silver. The World Under-20 bronze medalist ran 1:46:35 to finish second after winner Mariano Garcia of Spain, who ran 1:46.20.

Elsewhere, Africa’s fastest man, Ferdinand Omanyala, had his day cut short after failing to advance to the 60-meter finals.

The national record holder finished fourth in his heat, which was won by Marvin Bracy of the United States in 6.51 seconds.
