The Ministry of Health on Wednesday, 2nd January, announced 119 new Covid-19 cases from 4,808 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
This brings to 321,671 the total number of confirmed cases from the 3,233,831 tests done so far. The country’s positivity rate now stands at 2.5 per cent.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said in a statement that from the cases, 108 are Kenyans while 11 are foreigners, with 55 being males and 64 females. The youngest is a one-year-old baby while the oldest is 112.
Some 574 patients have recovered from the disease, with 507 from the home-based isolation and care programme and 67 from various health facilities. The total number of recoveries is 295,433.
The national death toll rose to 5,593 after six patients succumbed to the virus.
There are 363 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 4,110 are under the home-based Isolation and care programme.
Some nine patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and all of them are on ventilatory support.
Another 68 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 66 of them in general wards and two patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Vaccination: As of 1st February 2022, a total of 12,652,991 vaccines have been administered across the country. Of these 6,636,392 were partially vaccinated while 5,753,724 were fully vaccinated.
Another 100,679 doses were administered to those between 15 to 18 years while 162,196 were booster doses.
