18 More Deaths as Kenya Records 403 New Covid-19 Infections – LitKenya

The number of Covid-19 cases has risen to 175,176 after 403 people contracted the virus in the last 24 hours.

The cases are from the 5,577 samples tested, bringing to 1,864,020, the cumulative number of samples tested so far. The country’s positivity rate is at 7.2 per cent.

In a statement issued on Saturday, 12th June, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced that from the new cases, 399 are Kenyans while four are foreigners.

There are 215 are males and 188 females. The youngest is a one-year-old child while the oldest is 97.

Some 442 patients have recovered from the disease with 418 being from the home-based care programme, while 24 have been discharged from different health facilities, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 120,031.

Eighteen more patients have succumbed, bringing the death toll to 3,396.

There are 957 patients admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 4,796 patients are under the home-based isolation and care programme.

At the same time,163 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 30 of whom are on ventilatory support and 113 on supplemental oxygen and 20 patients under observation.

Another 105 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 100 of them in general wards and five in High Dependency Units (HDU).
