2013 poll: Three IEBC officers convicted of fraud

Three Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officers have been found guilty of fraud and colluding to change tender documents for solar lanterns meant for the 2013 General Elections.

Chief Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi further convicted two directors of Solarmark Technologies of forging tax compliance certificates in the case that led to the loss of  Ksh147 million.

The IEBC procurement officers are Kennedy Gaunye Ochae, Gabriel Ngonyo Mutunga and Willie Gachanja Kamanga.

Solarmark Technologies directors Benson Gethi Wangui and Joyce Makena involved in the supply of solar lanterns were found guilty of forging a compliance certificate issued by the Assistant Commissioner of the domestic tax department.
