26 Test Positive as Covid-19 Death Toll Hits 5,314

The Ministry of Health has announced 26 new Covid-19 cases, raising the country’s caseload to 253,879.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, 9th November, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the latest figure was derived from the 1,346 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

This brings to 2,743,182 the cumulative number of Covid-19 tests. The country’s positivity rate now stands at 1.6 per cent.

Of the new cases 25 are Kenyans and one a foreigner while 16 are males and 10 are females.The youngest is a two-year-old child while the oldest is 85 years.

Some 88 patients have recovered from the disease, 83 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while five are from various health facilities countrywide. The total number of recoveries now stands at 247,458.

Sadly, two patients succumbed to the disease pushing the number of total fatalities to 5,314.

At the same time, 113 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen and all of them are in the general wards. No patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

Vaccination: So far, a total of 5,691,050 vaccines have administered across the country. The number of fully vaccinated individuals stands at 1,882,668 while those partially vaccinated are 3, 808,382.

The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is at 46.3 per cent while the proportion of adults fully vaccinated stands at 6.9 per cent.
