3 Deaths Reported as Covid-19 Cases Rise to 255,932

The Ministry of Health on Friday, 10th December, announced 136 new Covid-19 cases, raising the country’s caseload to 255,932.

In a press statement issued in Nairobi, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said that the latest figure had been derived from 4,895 samples tested in the last 24 hours. This brings to 2,879,290 the cumulative number of Covid-19 tests. The country’s positivity rate is at 2.8 per cent.

Of the cases, 110 are Kenyans while 26 are foreigners. Some 78 are males while 58 are females. The youngest is a 14-year-old while the oldest is 83.

Kagwe said eight patients have recovered from the disease, six from Home-Base Care and Program while two are from various health facilities countrywide. The total number of recoveries now stands at 248,488.

Sadly, three patients succumbed to the disease, pushing the cumulative fatalities to 5,342.

Currently, there are 203 patients are admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 841 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

At the same time, two patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and all of them are on ventilatory support.

Another 49 patients are on supplemental oxygen with 48 of them being in the general wards. One patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

Vaccination: As of 10th December a total of 8,018,413 vaccines had so far been administered across the country.

Of these, 4,840,279 were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 3,178,134. The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 57.4 per cent. The proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 11.7 per cent.
