Three Kenya Defence forces soldiers have succumbed to injuries at the Defence memorial Hospital after they encountered an IED in Lamu.

The soldiers who were on routine duty at Baure in Lamu were ambushed along the Bodhei-Kiunga road on Tuesday morning with casualties airlifted to Nairobi for medical care.

KDF Spokesperson Zipporah Kioko now says a multi agency security team has intensified the pursuit of the perpetrators of the heinous attack.

Security officers are manning all routes in an out of the area to deny the attackers movement.

“In support of the current efforts, Baure area residents have shared credible information on the identities of the sympathizers of the attackers,” She said.

Kioko lauded the courage demonstrated by the soldiers during the attack and appreciated the quick response by other security agencies.

“KDF remains unbowed, and together with the multi agency security teams deployed under operation Amani Boni, has the resolve to bring sustainable peace in the area,” She said.
