The Ministry of Health on Tuesday, 7th September, confirmed 704 new Covid-19 cases, with three deaths in the last 24 hours, raising the national tally of infections to 241,134.
The new cases were detected from some 6,776 samples tested, bringing country’s cumulative tests to 2,421,633. The country’s positivity rate is at 10.4 per cent.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced that from the cases, 667 are Kenyans while 67 are foreigners with 337 being males while 367 are females. The youngest is a one-year-old infant while the oldest is 104.
He confirmed that 756 patients had recovered from the disease, 689 from the home-based care programme, while 67 have been discharged from various hospitals. The total number of recoveries now stands at 229,762.
Sadly, five more patients have succumbed to the virus rising the number of deaths to 4,800.
There are 1,815 patients currently admitted to various health facilities across the country while another 4,053 are in home-based isolation and care.
Some 147 patients are in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 104 are on ventilatory support, 33 on supplemental oxygen while 10 patients are under observation.
Another 771 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 709 of them being admitted in the general wards and 62 patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Vaccination: As of Monday, 6th September, a total of 2,874,858 vaccines had been administered across the country. Of these, the total first doses are 2,080,483 while the second doses are 814,375.
The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is at 39.1 per cent with the majority being males at 55 per cent while females are at 45 per cent. Proportion of adults fully vaccinated is 3.0 per cent.
The uptake of the second dose by Priority Groups is as follows: Aged 58 years and above 241,569; others 245,146; health workers 135,296; teachers 123,740; while security officers are at 68,624.
