Former cabinet minister Mukhisa Kituyi is contemplating forming his own political outfit ahead of the 2022 transition polls, Weekly Citizen has reliably learnt.
And perhaps to make a mark at the national level, the former Trade minister is said to be working on a political pact with Laikipia governor Ndiritu Mureithi, who is Mwai Kibaki’s nephew.

Governor Ndirirtu Mureithi

Kituyi and Mureithi are eloquent public speakers whose political liaison has the potential of ruffling feathers in their respective regions and beyond.
This latest development is expected to set tongues wagging, with the outgoing UNCTAD secretary general’s Western backyard already spoilt for choice between Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetang’ula, Raila Odinga and William Ruto.
Though details are scanty on the Kituyi-Mureithi deal, sources familiar with deal say the former Kimilili MP will not be going for anything short of the presidency, with Mureithi primed for the running mate perch.

Wetangula and Mudavadi

Hailing from the populous Bungoma county, Kituyi is expected to give Wetang’ula a run for his money in an area seen to be lacking in the political verve reminiscent of former vice president Kijana Wamalwa and former Kwanza MP George Kapten’s era.
Wetang’ula the Bungoma senator has been accused of presiding over the steady decline of Ford Kenya, once a lively outfit during the late VP’s reign at its helm, not to mention Jaramogi Odinga before him.
Kituyi’s political outfit, should it come to pass, could alter the political equation in Bungoma and Trans Nzoia counties, both believed to be Wetang’ula’s bastion. Kituyi hopes to ride on Ford Kenya troubles to consolidate the Bukusu vote basket to his favour, if not his preferred coalition
