Residents of Kisumu have raised concern over the dominance of members of one ethnic group in the subcounty, county and region security.
A security lobby watchdog in the region called Kisumu Security Team Watch is calling upon the National Police Service Commission, Inspector General of Kenya Police Service Hillary Mutyambai and the head of Directorate of Crminial Investigations George Kinoti to move with speed and transfer the officers who are not only laid back against operations of the police within the area but have contemptuous attitudes towards residents of the area.

DCI George Kinoti

Nyanza region DCI boss a Mr Kipsoi is a Kalenjin, while Kisumu county Criminal Investigations Officer is Onesmus Towett another Kalenjin. Kisumu Central assistant county commissioner John Cheruiyot is also a Kalenjin, with the OCPD being Martha Ng’etich
Residents are accusing Kipsoi of either being inept or the office being too big for him as he has failed to have two MPs Elisha Odhiambo (Gem) and Charles Were (Kasipul) who have adversely been mentioned with two serious assaults cases, arrested.
A senior police officer who did not want to be mentioned lamented that Kisumu Central subcounty security committee has been turned into a Kalenjin affair as mostly meetings are conducted in Kalenjin dialect. The chairman of National Police Service is Eliud Kinuthia.
