Kilifi County Deputy Governor Gideon Saburi has been released on a 200 thousand shillings cash bail after denying a charge of willfully exposing himself in public while suffering from the Covid-19 disease without taking precautions contrary to the Public Health Act of 2017.
While granting bail Principal Magistrate Elvis Michieka ordered Saburi not to interfere with the witnesses and to deposit his travel documents with the court.
The prosecution on Wednesday had requested the court to grant them 10 days custodial orders so as to complete investigations.
The defense counsel had objected claiming the deputy governor would comply with bond terms as he understood the consequences of disobeying them.
