Siaya county governor Cornel Rasanga’s decision to sent county executive committee member for finance on a one-month compulsory leave was due to the infighting that has rocked his management. Charles Mungla was ordered out of the office as the governor carried out a minor reshuffle amongst the county top brass. No reasons were given for sending the county finance executive home.
It is said that Mungla had differed with powerful county secretary Joseph Ogutu. Ogutu was pushing for a firm associated with his kin to be paid but Mungla questioned. Others say that the executive is fighting over budget money to contain Covid-19 running into millions of shillings that has come as a windfall.
Finance chief officer Hezbon Mariwa was redeployed to the trade and industrialisation department in the changes. Dennis Nyonje, the director of finance will take over the docket of the chief officer, finance in an acting capacity. Mariwa and Nyonje are known to cut mega deals with Rasanga also being beneficiaries of the scams.
