Here’s Kimani Ngunjiri’s Threatening Message to Uhuru

A vocal Member of Parliament elected on a Jubilee Party ticket has slammed President Uhuru Kenyatta on what he termed as orchestrating the frustrations against Deputy President William Ruto by a section of members of the political divide.

Controversial Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri asked President Kenyatta to stop sidelining and rebuking his Deputy saying that his regime will charge him harshly when he vacates office.

He alleged a plot by the Head of State by use of “few” Kikuyus and some selected tribal kingpins in mocking his deputy.

Mr Kimani who was addressing the press at his Nakuru home on Sunday said that President Kenyatta should be held responsible should the country plunge into chaos after the 2022 General Election.

“Hague is still there Mr President. So if you do something silly and anything happens and Kenyans go into war because of your tactics, then you will be held responsible,” said Mr Ngunjiri.

President Kenyatta was charged alongside his Deputy among others by the Hague-based International Criminal Court (ICC) with orchestrating crimes against humanity in 2007-08 during violence that followed disputed presidential elections in 2007.

As the trial was set to open in December 2014 after several postponements, the charges were withdrawn for lack of evidence due to the withdrawal of key prosecution witnesses.

Mr Ngunjiri also cautioned the President that he had been surrounded by political brokers who are likely to mess up his legacy.

“Mr President you are leading a government full of brokers and they have succeeded in dividing you and your deputy. But as leaders and supporters allied to the Deputy President, we are watching keenly how he is being treated by those close to you and we shall also plan ourselves,” he added.

H also took issue with some cabinet secretaries saying that they ha failed to account for billions of shillings meant for containing the spread of Coronavirus.

“Why is it that some cabinet secretaries get angry when we question them about these billions of money that were set aside to combat the spread of this scourge? The President should put his house in order,” he explained.

The ICC prosecutor Fatou Bensouda alleges widespread witness-tampering in the case and that the Kenyan government failed to cooperate with or provide key evidence.
