Kalonzo is appealing to the President to seek every expert opinion on whether to ease or remove altogether the measures the Government has been undertaking to contain the spread of Covid-19.

The government has hinted at gradual re-opening of the country. President Uhuru Kenyatta Monday during Madaraka day set the ball rolling for reopening when he directed concerned ministries to fast-track consultations with key stakeholders for the gradual reopening of schools and places of worship as more African countries seek partial lifting of coronavirus disease restrictions.

The Health ministry projects that infections will peak in August and September. The number of new cases have surged in the past two weeks hitting tripple digits.

Kalonzo says he senses danger ahead if the country slips back to business as usual amid the pandemic.

“I know the President will be talking to the Country I think about the sixth …in the next  two to three days or thereabout, I would want to urge him to really receive all the expert advice because Kenyans are not sure whether we should just go back to business as usual, “ said Kalonzo

He warns that great tragedy lies ahead if we revert to the old way of doing things.

Kalonzo says Kenyans should stand firm behind their Government during this pandemic stating that together the country will pull through and come out stronger.

The Wiper Leader spoke while receiving more food and nonfood items to be forwarded to the COVID 19 Emergency Response Fund through his foundation.

He noted that the pandemic has ravaged World economies but reopening should not be rushed.
