BREAKING: Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru impeached for gross misconduct

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has been impeached by the Kirinyaga County Assembly. This is after a session that was marred by violence, threats and intimidation. Twenty-three out of 33 MCAs have voted to impeach Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru over gross-misconduct and abuse of office.

MCAs had earlier rejected a 90M budget which was supposed to be set aside to furnish the Governor’s Office. MCAs supporting Governor Waiguru claim Interior PS Karanja Kibicho is sponsoring the growing rebellion against the Governor.

The MCAs claim, PS Kibicho sponsored members to push two motions of no-confidence against Waiguru’s Finance Minister Moses Migwi and Chief Officer Joseph Makumi.Their removal is set to forestall budget allocations and cripple county government. MCAs said to be bankrolled by Kibicho accused the two of incompetence and graft.

Led by Majority Leader Kamau Murango, the leaders claim they are opposed to the supplementary budget memorandum which has no cash for development. The assembly had earlier rejected Waiguru’s Supplementary Budget, which she took back to the assembly with a memorandum.
