The Kenya Rugby Union is looking for a replacement for the national sevens team Shujaa coach after the exit of New Zealand’s Paul Feeney last month.
The New Zealand born was appointed the technical director in September 2019 and was later re-appointed as the Kenya Sevens coach in December.
Feeney took over the job from Paul Murunga.
In an advertisement, the country’s rugby governing body said that they were looking for an individual with a minimum of three years of experience as a Head Coach in a division one club, elite Squad and a minimum World Rugby Level 2 coaching certification in either sevens or fifteens rugby.

“The Board of the Union is desirous of filling the position of the Head Coach, Kenya Sevens National Team reporting to the Director of Rugby for the effective overall management of the Kenya Sevens Team. The appointed person will coach the team, on and off the field, to a standard of excellence, demonstrating a significant improvement over each annual period of centralization, enhancing the reputation of the Kenya Rugby Union,” said KRU.
The individual will also be responsible for the coaching of the Sevens squad and the management of a performance program to ensure that the selected players are best equipped to compete and perform in the international assignments as defined by KRU.
Applications must be submitted no later than 10th July 2020.
The Kenya rugby sevens team Shujaa finished 12th in the 2019/2020 HSBC World Rugby Sevens season after five remaining rounds were cancelled.
The World Rugby cancelled the Langford, London, Paris, Singapore and Hong Kong rounds after what they said was a consultation process due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
